“We really want an intimate and elegant day with food and wine to match”
Lynsey and Craig are so in tune with each other. Now that is a big statement to make when you meet as many couples as we do in the hospitality industry, but during the planning of their wedding, the couple of days before and the day itself they both could not have been more relaxed about the commitment they were about to make to each other. The photos and memories just highlight further how at ease and happy they both are with each other. (Just look at how much laughter!)
Over two days in June 2017 Lynsey, Craig and 50 guests celebrated their marriage in a quiet corner of the Cornish coast. The weekend kicked off in style with catch ups, cuddles and a couple of G&T’s(!). The plan was a family BBQ on the nearest beach and even a little bit of drizzle didn’t stop this party from strolling down to the sand to enjoy!
Bright and early the guests were woken by a gentle knock at the door as breakfast hampers were delivered, to be devoured in their apartments while getting suited and booted. Now what about the couple themselves? Craig spent most of the morning relaxing in the swimming pool with his groomsmen and Lynsey sipped Moet and had a giggle with her girls as she was pampered in her suite. Like I said, the most chilled out morning for the pair of them!
The couple chose to have their ceremony here at The Rosevine overlooking the sea. Emotional and full of love, the vows were beautiful and meaningful. Post ‘I Do’s’ everyone could not wait to enjoy the sunshine that had appeared. Plenty of prosecco and gorgeous singing from acoustic singer Cariss were the perfect pairing to the drinks reception. As the guests enjoyed the garden the team set to work to transform the house into the elegant dinner party layout Lynsey had envisioned. White linen, candles and soft pretty pastel flowers decorated the tables and window sills, the overall effect was classic and beautiful.
Both the bride and the groom are big foodies and wanted the wedding breakfast to be a highlight of their wedding. Pulling together ideas from both the couple and Head Chef Tim, along with a weekend in Cornwall to taste, the menu was decided and enjoyed by all.
Starter – Soy marinated chicken skewer, gem lettuce, mango, lime and cucumber salad with peanut and sweet chilli dressing
Main – Slow Cooked Short rib of beef, buttery mash, caramelised shallot puree, red wine Jus & market vegetables
Dessert – Homemade arctic roll, clotted ice cream, fresh strawberries and raspberries
What followed had to be some of the most animated speeches we have seen! Craig buried his head in his hands on a few occasions and Lynsey just cried with laughter next to him! The party spilled out into the late afternoon sun for games, giggling and one or two Bramble cocktails. We have these two to blame entirely for our new-found love of these very tasty drinks, so much so we now serve them as a permanent fixture on our drinks menu! (Get the recipe here)
Now let’s just talk about the cake!! The 4-tiered masterpiece was handmade by Lynsey’s mother who came down to Cornwall early to make it in her rental cottage a few days before the big day. Sorry ladies and gents unbelievably this is not what she does for a living so I cannot pass you her number, but what an amazing and personal touch to the day.
This group were really up for a dance and a party, with so much excitement and a few brambles on board, as soon as DJ Robin began the dancefloor was packed! The celebrations lasted long into the night and I am proud to report the lovebirds were the last two standing.
Plenty of weary heads and a mountain of bacon were present, as everyone came down for a much-needed cooked breakfast before making the journey home.

“Thank you so much for everything you and the team did for us over the weekend – it’s no mean feat with so many people! It was everything we imagined and dreamed of, it couldn’t have been more perfect!”
