A question locals get asked all the time, and one we confidently answer with September and October. These blissful two months as Summer turns into Autumn are the ideal time to visit this beautiful county. The weather is famous for being incredible over the 8 weeks, with warm days and sunset framed evenings, making it perfect to go out and explore.
The Roseland Peninsula is year round a haven to escape and unwind, but this is especially true of the post Summer period. The traffic experienced in August dies down on both the land and the sea, and it is not unusual to stumble across a deserted beach of your very own. This is also a great time to enjoy the sea both in and on the water. The temperature is blissful for a spot of sea swimming, a particular favourite of the team is Porthcurnick (pictured above), which due to its unusual position is one of the most sheltered bays around.
The local events calendar is also packed with a variety of offerings. Highlights include Looe Music Festival at the end of September, The Little Orchard cider and music festival held near Newquay in mid-September. Closer to ‘home’ and just a short ferry ride away, The Falmouth Beer Festival at the end of October and The Falmouth Oyster Festival in mid – October both draw large crowds to the picturesque harbour town. For all the foodies The Great Cornish Food Festival held in Truro in late September is a must. The 3 days are dedicated to showcasing the amazing Cornish food and drink suppliers, and yes there are plenty of samples!
September and October are also the season for a wide selection of fish and the finest fresh local vegetables, an ideal time to indulge and try some of the local delights. September the 10th will see the return of our popular ‘Easy Sundays’, combining the fantastic South West Coast Path with a hearty Sunday lunch. Every Sunday come and park your car at the hotel and collect a walking map, bottles of water plus a dog treat for your four legged friends, before enjoying some of the miles of coast path on our doorstep. Once you have worked up an appetite return to Rosevine to enjoy Sunday lunch overlooking the sea. Bookings highly recommend for our set Sunday lunch which will commence on Sunday 10th September.
